OZARK, Ala. — A 27-year-old woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon on Highway 231 in Dale County. The victim has been identified as Maia M. Sterns of Madison, Alabama, according to Dale County Coroner John Cawley.
The crash occurred around 1:00 p.m. near the intersection of Enterprise Road, when Sterns’ vehicle hydroplaned, crossed the median, and collided with an oncoming car. Cawley confirmed that Sterns was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the second vehicle involved in the crash sustained only minor injuries, though their identity has not been released.
Dale County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) officials have declared all roads and bridges in the county impassable due to hazardous conditions following the crash.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
