DOTHAN, Ala. — An 18-year-old Ozark man was arrested on Thursday, February 6, after an investigation revealed he had downloaded child pornography, including videos depicting infants and toddlers.
The arrest comes after a months-long probe that began with a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.*
According to the Dale County Sheriff’s Office, Dominick Bowman was taken into custody following a search of his residence on Rosemary Lane in Ozark.
Authorities received the initial tip several months ago, which indicated that someone in the area was watching child pornography online. The tip led investigators to track the IP address associated with the illegal activity.
Sheriff Mason Bynum confirmed that Bowman was the individual responsible for the unlawful online behavior. “We were able to track the IP address and locate the individual behind these heinous crimes,” Bynum said.
“The safety of children is a priority, and we will continue to pursue those who engage in such harmful behavior.”
The investigation, led by Lt. Caroline Jackson, uncovered disturbing material involving sexual abuse of young children. Lt. Jackson explained that Bowman is facing one count of possession of child pornography, although additional charges could be filed as the investigation progresses.
“We are still combing through his electronic devices, and we anticipate that more charges will follow,” Lt. Jackson stated. “We are committed to bringing justice to the victims involved.” Bowman’s arrest is part of a broader effort by local and national law enforcement agencies to combat online child exploitation.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children plays a critical role in identifying and responding to such cases, working alongside law enforcement to prevent further harm to minors.
As authorities continue to investigate, Bowman remains in custody. The Dale County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with additional information to come forward, as the investigation into his activities is ongoing.
