DOTHAN, Ala. — A 29-year-old man has been arrested in Dothan on charges of sexual abuse involving a child under the age of 12. Timothy Lee Sanford Jr. was taken into custody Wednesday evening following an investigation that began earlier this year.
According to Dothan Police, the investigation into Sanford’s actions started in January, and after months of inquiry, a warrant was issued for his arrest. Sanford is now facing charges of sexual abuse of a child under 12 years old.
Lieutenant Ronald Hall of the Dothan Police Department confirmed the arrest but emphasized that due to the sensitive nature of the case, few details can be released at this time. Hall did, however, state that the charges stem from allegations of inappropriate sexual contact with the young child.
Sanford is currently being held in custody, and no further information regarding the case is available. Authorities continue to handle the investigation with care, given its sensitive nature.
