MIDLAND CITY, Ala. — A Midland City man, 57-year-old Earnest Thomas, was arrested Tuesday on charges of sexually abusing a child under the age of 12.
The arrest came after a tip from the victim’s family prompted an investigation into the allegations. According to Dale County Sheriff Mason Bynum, the investigation included an interview with Thomas, which ultimately led to a search of his home in Midland City.
After reviewing evidence gathered during the search, authorities determined there was enough to charge Thomas with the crime. Following his arrest, Thomas was released from the Dale County Jail Wednesday after posting bond.
Due to the victim’s age, authorities have not disclosed further details about the case, and no additional information will be released at this time.
Sheriff Bynum confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and reassured the public that law enforcement is dedicated to ensuring justice for the victim.
