NEW BROCKTON, Ala. — Severe storms that rolled through the Wiregrass region Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning left a trail of damage, with scattered reports of downed trees across several counties.
As the storms moved through the area, winds were strong enough to uproot trees and cause other disruptions. The damage was mainly confined to fallen trees, which blocked roads and affected properties. In New Brockton, a local homeowner awoke Wednesday morning to find several trees knocked down in their yard.
Though the extent of the damage is still being assessed, local authorities have urged residents to exercise caution when traveling, as fallen trees may still be obstructing roads in some areas. No major injuries have been reported, but the cleanup process is expected to take several days.
Officials continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as additional reports come in from surrounding counties. Residents are encouraged to stay informed about weather conditions and avoid unnecessary travel until conditions improve.
