Pursuit in Houston County Ends in Crash, Driver Detained

HOUSTON COUNTY, Ala. — A high-speed pursuit involving Houston County Sheriff’s Deputies came to a dramatic end when the suspect’s vehicle crashed after being stopped by a PIT maneuver.

The chase, which took place in the southeast part of the county, culminated when deputies successfully employed the precision intervention technique (PIT) to bring the vehicle to a stop. The suspect’s vehicle then crashed on Eddins Road, near the intersection with Middleton Road.

While the vehicle sustained moderate damage, the driver’s condition remains unclear. The details surrounding the beginning of the chase are currently unknown, and authorities have not yet revealed what prompted the pursuit.

According to Rickey Stokes News, the driver of the vehicle is from Florida. A second passenger was reportedly in the vehicle but was dropped off prior to the crash. Deputies have not provided further information regarding the passenger or any potential charges at this time.

The incident remains under investigation as authorities work to piece together the events that led to the chase and subsequent crash.
