TALLADEGA, Ala. — A fatal accident in Talladega on March 16 has claimed the life of 49-year-old Thomas Ferrell of Cottonwood, Tennessee. The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Ashland Highway when Ferrell was walking across the roadway and was struck by a Nissan pickup truck.
Ferrell, who was a lineman, was immediately rushed to the hospital but was later pronounced dead on Tuesday, according to the Talladega Police Department.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as 45-year-old Miguel Manzana-Martinez, was arrested and charged with manslaughter in connection with the incident. Manzana-Martinez is currently being held at the Talladega County Jail with a bond set at $50,000.
Authorities have stated that the investigation into the crash is ongoing, and further details will be released as they become available.
