Pike County Man Found Guilty of Rape, Sentencing Scheduled for June

Dothan, Ala. — A Pike County man has been convicted of first-degree rape after a jury found him guilty on Tuesday, April 8. The conviction stems from a crime committed in October 2023, when Charles Lamont Boyd Jr. reportedly assaulted a young relative in the home of a family member.

Boyd Jr., who had been arrested in late 2023, was found guilty of the charges after an investigation revealed disturbing details of the attack. According to District Attorney James Tarbox, Boyd Jr. had been visiting a relative’s home when he asked to use the bathroom. After exiting the restroom, Boyd Jr. allegedly entered the bedroom of the young victim’s parents, where he attacked and raped her.

The incident came to light after the victim confided in a friend, who subsequently reported the crime to authorities. Following this, a thorough investigation was conducted, leading to Boyd Jr.’s arrest and the subsequent trial.

Boyd Jr. is set to be sentenced on June 19, and until then, he will remain in custody at the Pike County Jail. The case highlights the ongoing efforts of local law enforcement and the judicial system to hold perpetrators accountable and ensure justice for victims of sexual assault.

In the wake of the verdict, District Attorney Tarbox emphasized the importance of supporting victims and their families during such traumatic times, adding that the successful prosecution of this case is a step toward ensuring a safer community for all.

As the case moves to sentencing, attention will be focused on ensuring that Boyd Jr. faces appropriate consequences for his actions, and on providing continued support for the victim as she works to heal from the ordeal.
