Trial Set for Georgia Man Accused of Murdering Dothan Native in His Sleep

DOTHAN, Ala. — A trial date has been scheduled for Solomon Cooper, a Georgia man accused of the capital murder of 20-year-old Sincere Tyson. The case, which has drawn significant attention, will see Cooper stand trial for the fatal shooting of Tyson, who was killed while sleeping in his Dothan apartment in October 2021.

Cooper, who is facing charges of capital murder, was originally set to appear before Judge Steensland for a status hearing on Wednesday. However, the hearing has been delayed until June following an incident involving one of Cooper’s attorneys. Despite the delay, sources close to the case have confirmed that Cooper’s trial is now slated to begin in September.

Tyson was shot at least once while he slept in his Abbey-Oaks apartment after attending a birthday party. His death sent shockwaves through the local community, as Tyson was well-known and loved by many.

Cooper, who was apprehended in Muscogee County, Georgia, a month later on separate charges, is accused of being the one responsible for the fatal shooting. Authorities have continued to investigate the circumstances surrounding Tyson’s death, and Cooper’s trial will likely provide more insight into the events that led to the tragedy.

In connection with the case, Zycheria Russ, another suspect, recently pleaded guilty to a felony murder charge in relation to Tyson’s death. Russ’s guilty plea is expected to play a significant role in the upcoming trial, as it may offer key information about the events leading up to the shooting.

As the case progresses toward trial, the Dothan community and those close to Tyson continue to seek justice for the young man whose life was tragically cut short. The trial in September will be closely watched as it unfolds in the coming months.
