Fire Breaks Out at Hunt Refining Company in Tuscaloosa

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Firefighters responded to a blaze at Hunt Refining Company in Tuscaloosa Wednesday afternoon. According to Holly Whigham of Tuscaloosa Fire and Rescue, the fire was reported shortly before 11:45 a.m. at the refinery, located on Jack Warner Parkway.

By 12:30 p.m., Whigham confirmed that the fire was under control, with crews focused on stabilizing the scene. Hunt Refining Company later stated that the fire occurred while employees were performing work to restart the refinery following a power failure.

As a precaution, four individuals were transported off-site for evaluation. However, there were no immediate reports of serious injuries or fatalities.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and authorities are working to determine the circumstances that led to the incident. No further details have been released at this time.
