Dothan, AL – Peyson Byrley of Houston County recently completed a job shadowing experience with the Dothan Police Department, gaining firsthand insight into law enforcement training and daily operations.
During her time with the department, Byrley worked with both the Training Division and the Academy Division.
She participated in law enforcement exercises using Axon Virtual Reality and the Meggitt Interactive System, and attended legal training sessions with Wiregrass Law Enforcement Academy Class 9.
The program provided a comprehensive look at how officers are trained and prepared for their duties.
The Dothan Police Department highlighted the importance of engaging young people in criminal justice careers, noting that experiences like Byrley’s help cultivate future contributors to the profession.
Houston County Career Academy praised Byrley’s performance, calling the job shadowing “an incredible, hands-on learning experience—and a great example of career exploration done right.”
