Alabama Lineman Killed in Fatal Crash; Driver Arrested and Charged

Dothan, Ala. — A 49-year-old lineman from Cottonwood, Tennessee, tragically lost his life after being struck by a vehicle on March 16. According to the Talladega Police Department, Thomas Ferrell was walking across Ashland Highway when he was hit by a Nissan pickup truck at approximately 7:30 p.m.

Ferrell was immediately rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead on Tuesday, March 18. His death has left friends, family, and colleagues in mourning.

Miguel Manzana-Martinez, a 45-year-old resident of Talladega, was arrested in connection with the incident. He has been charged with manslaughter and is currently being held at the Talladega County Jail on a $50,000 bond. Authorities have stated that the investigation is ongoing as they work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the collision.

Ferrell, a lineman by trade, had been working in the area when the accident occurred. His passing has prompted an outpouring of support from the local community, as well as from those in the utility and construction industries who knew him professionally.

The Talladega Police Department has urged anyone with further information about the incident to come forward as they continue their investigation into the events leading up to the fatal crash.
