COVINGTON COUNTY, Ala.— An Andalusia woman has died from injuries she sustained in a single-vehicle crash that occurred two weeks ago in Covington County.
According to officials, Amanda E. Edson, 30, was critically injured on January 18 when the truck she was driving left the roadway and overturned. The crash took place on Plywood Mill Road near Grider Mock Road, approximately one mile south of River Falls.
Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) report that Edson was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was ejected from the vehicle upon impact. She was transported to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola for medical treatment, but tragically passed away on Saturday, February 1.
The ALEA Highway Patrol Division is continuing to investigate the incident. However, authorities have stated that they do not anticipate releasing any further details at this time.
This incident serves as a reminder of the critical importance of seatbelt use while driving. The circumstances of the crash are still under review, but the ongoing investigation aims to provide additional insight into the cause of the tragic event.
As of now, there are no new updates on the case.
