BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Birmingham Police Department (BPD) has announced the issuance of arrest warrants for two individuals in connection to a 2023 homicide and a 2024 double homicide. Damien McDaniel, who is already facing charges in 14 separate murder cases, is now connected to both incidents, further deepening the scope of his alleged criminal activities.
According to the BPD, McDaniel and 30-year-old Lorenzo Wiley, a resident of Fairfield, have been charged with capital murder in the death of 52-year-old Reginald Bryant. Bryant was fatally shot on November 27, 2023, in the 500 block of Closhire Lane, located in Birmingham’s Pratt Neighborhood.
In addition to the Bryant case, McDaniel has been charged with the murders of Christian Norris and Angeliyah Webster, a couple who was reported missing by their families on February 14, 2024. Two days later, on February 16, the bodies of Norris and Webster were discovered inside a vehicle. McDaniel has also been charged with the death of the couple’s unborn child, further intensifying the gravity of the charges he faces.
McDaniel, now accused of killing a total of 18 individuals—including the unborn child of Norris and Webster—remains in police custody alongside Wiley. The new charges have added to an already lengthy list of allegations against McDaniel, who has become one of the most notorious figures in the Birmingham homicide investigations.
As for McDaniel’s legal defense, his attorney, John Robbins, emphasized that they have yet to see the official indictments related to the new charges. Robbins maintained that McDaniel continues to assert his innocence in the face of these allegations. The defense team is currently focused on preparing for McDaniel’s upcoming trial in the “Trendsetter” case, a separate high-profile murder trial. Robbins further noted that these new charges would be addressed later, as the defense team prioritizes the preparation of the Trendsetter case.
The BPD continues to investigate McDaniel’s involvement in the two homicides and his broader criminal activities, which have plagued the community for an extended period. The arrest warrants signal a continued push for justice for the victims and their families.
