Body Discovered Inside Vehicle Fire in Dothan

Dothan, Ala. — Authorities responded to a vehicle fire Monday afternoon in Dothan, where a body was discovered inside the burning vehicle.

Dothan Police Department (DPD) and Dothan Fire units were dispatched shortly before 1 p.m. to the 3500 block of Napier Field Road, near the intersection with John D. Odom Road, following reports of a vehicle engulfed in flames.

Firefighters successfully extinguished the fire, but upon inspection, police found human remains inside the vehicle. Investigators and Fire Marshals are actively working to determine the cause of the fire.

The remains have been sent to the Department of Forensic Sciences, where officials will work to identify the deceased and determine both the cause and manner of death.
