DALE COUNTY, Ala. – The Dale County Sheriff’s Office has launched an investigation into disturbing videos that recently surfaced on social media, depicting a young man abusing animals. The footage includes one video showing a dog being shot on the side of the road and another in which a cat is beaten with a shovel.
The videos quickly gained attention, sparking outrage among viewers who called on local law enforcement to take action against the suspect involved in the incidents. In response to the public outcry, the Sheriff’s Office confirmed that they became aware of the videos on Saturday and initiated an investigation into both the source and the authenticity of the footage.
Through their investigation, authorities discovered that the videos were not recent, with some dating back approximately two years. Investigators also determined that at least one of the incidents occurred outside of Dale County. While the suspect was identified as a juvenile at the time of the incidents, Alabama law mandates that he be charged as a minor.
The Sheriff’s Office has stated that charges are expected to be filed by Tuesday. However, due to the suspect’s age, further details regarding the case will remain confidential in accordance with state laws protecting juveniles.
