Dothan, Ala. – City officials gathered recently to express their appreciation for the students participating in Dothan City Schools’ (DCS) Career Technical Education (CTE) programs. These programs, which aim to provide students with valuable career and life skills, are giving them hands-on experience to prepare them for real-world success after high school.
With a focus on practical education, the CTE program offers students an opportunity to gain skills in areas such as time management, communication, and industry-specific knowledge. The program is designed to equip students with the tools they need to succeed, whether they pursue higher education or enter the workforce directly after graduation.
The DCS CTE program offers eight different career tracks and currently serves over 900 students, which accounts for 66% of the district’s 9th through 12th graders.
Ryan Richards, the Workforce Coordinator for Dothan City Schools, emphasized the importance of ensuring that students are prepared for life after high school. “It’s our responsibility to provide opportunities for them until the day they leave us so they can go out in our community and be successful,” he said.
