Dothan City Schools Seeks Community Input for New Superintendent Search

DOTHAN, Ala. — Dothan City Schools is inviting community members to share their opinions on the qualities, experiences, and skills they would like to see in the district’s next superintendent. The school system has launched an anonymous survey to gather input, which will remain open until Wednesday, May 7.

The survey, which takes approximately 10 minutes to complete, is being administered by the Alabama Association of School Boards on behalf of the Dothan City Schools Board of Education. School officials emphasized the importance of community feedback in the process, with the goal of selecting a leader who embodies the values and vision of the district.

“Dothan City Schools strives for quality education and effective leadership to guide the school district,” a statement from DCS officials reads. “This survey allows key stakeholders, including parents, teachers, and residents, to share their perspectives regarding the qualities, experiences, and skills they would like to see in the next superintendent.”

The search for a new superintendent follows the announcement by the current superintendent, Dr. Dennis Coe, that he will step down in June when his contract expires. The Board of Education is committed to ensuring that the next superintendent is equipped to lead the district through its next phase of growth and development.

As the community has a significant stake in the future of its schools, the survey provides an opportunity for individuals to play an active role in the decision-making process. Input from all community members is encouraged, as it will help guide the selection of a superintendent who can continue to foster a positive and effective educational environment for Dothan students.

The survey can be accessed through a link provided by the school system and is available until May 7.
