DOTHAN, Ala. – Just months after unveiling significant renovations to its athletic facilities, Dothan High School is continuing its commitment to enhancing its sports infrastructure. The school is investing $1 million in upgrades to its baseball, softball, and track venues, with construction already underway.
The improvements, which began in September 2024, include the addition of tiered seating, a resurfaced track, and expanded storage space. The track venue will also feature new bleachers, creating a more comfortable and engaging environment for both athletes and spectators alike. These enhancements are part of the school’s efforts to maintain top-tier facilities as it competes at the 7A level.
Dothan’s head softball coach, Donny Bright, reflected on the evolution of the school’s athletic facilities over the past two decades. “To be able to see where we started 21 years ago to where our facilities are now is truly amazing,” Bright said. “I’m super excited that they have the vision to do that, and it’s just going to be a great atmosphere.”
The upgrades are not just aimed at improving the experience for players. Dothan City Schools Superintendent, Dr. Dennis Coe, emphasized that the renovations align with the broader goal of fostering success across all athletic programs. “That’s always the hope,” Coe remarked. “We’ve experienced that with football and now with basketball. We’ve expanded success in all of our athletic programs, and we hope that carries over to our baseball and softball teams to give our fans and players a high-quality athletic experience.”
Jessica Nobles, the school’s athletic director, also highlighted the importance of the fan experience. “These upgrades are big in supporting our kids when they go out and raise money for our programs,” Nobles said. “So to do something like this for the fans, that is more fan experience-oriented, we’re very proud of that.”
The project is expected to be completed in time for the upcoming baseball and softball seasons, further enhancing Dothan High School’s reputation as a hub for athletic excellence. With these ongoing improvements, the school is solidifying its commitment to providing top-notch facilities for its students and the community.
