Dothan Officials Show Appreciation for Career Tech Students

DOTHAN, Ala. – City officials recently expressed their gratitude for the students participating in Dothan City Schools’ (DCS) career tech programs, which provide valuable opportunities for hands-on learning and skill development. With over 900 students currently enrolled in 18 career tech programs, Dothan’s commitment to equipping students with both technical expertise and essential life skills is evident.

The career tech programs offer students a chance to gain practical experience while building vital skills such as time management and communication. These skills are designed to prepare them for success in the real world, whether they are entering the workforce immediately after high school or continuing their education at a college or university.

According to Ryan Richards, Workforce Coordinator for DCS, the district is dedicated to ensuring that students have access to the resources they need to succeed after graduation. “It’s our responsibility to provide opportunities for them until the day they leave us so they can go out in our community and be successful,” Richards stated.

Mayor Saliba also emphasized the importance of the programs, noting their role in shaping the workforce of tomorrow. “We need to make sure our youth coming out of high school, whether they are going to college or to work, are prepared,” said Mayor Saliba. “We are grateful for our city school system because it plays an important part in workforce development.”

With 66% of students in grades 9 through 12 participating, the programs have become an integral part of the school district’s educational offerings. Mayor Saliba remarked that these students will be the ones who contribute to the community’s growth and success in the years to come.

As Dothan continues to invest in its students’ futures, the career tech programs serve as a vital bridge between education and the workforce, ensuring that the next generation is ready to face the challenges ahead.
