DOTHAN, Ala. – The city of Dothan is gearing up for the 10th annual Krewe of Kolosse Mardi Gras parade, which will take place this Saturday, March 1. As the event approaches, local officials have announced road closures and parking restrictions to ensure a smooth and safe parade day through downtown Dothan.
The parade will cause several roads to be closed from 6:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Saturday. These closures include:
- Foster Street: From Savannah Street to Burdeshaw Street
- Troy Street: From South Oates Street to Saint Andrews Street
- Crawford Street: From South Oates Street to Saint Andrews Street
City officials have urged drivers to be aware that all cars parked on these streets must be removed by 6:00 a.m. on the morning of the parade, or they will be towed at the owner’s expense. In addition, the Houston County Courthouse parking lot and a portion of the Clock Tower parking lot will be closed for the duration of the event.
The Krewe of Kolosse parade will kick off in the afternoon, starting in the garden district. The procession will make its way past Girard Elementary before picking up steam toward Calvary Baptist Church on Montezuma Avenue. Other notable stops on the route include the First United Methodist Church, the Episcopal Church of the Nativity, and the Boys and Girls Club.
The parade will conclude on Foster Street, where local businesses will remain open throughout the day to greet visitors and paradegoers.
To accommodate the large crowds expected downtown, several areas will be designated as family, vendor, and entertainment zones. These zones are designed to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for attendees of all ages.
