Drug Seizures and Arrests Made in Enterprise During Recent Raids

ENTERPRISE, Ala. — Authorities in Enterprise have made significant drug seizures and arrests following two separate raids in the city last week. The operations, carried out by the Enterprise Police Narcotics Unit and other law enforcement agencies, resulted in the confiscation of illegal drugs, firearms, and stolen property.

The first raid occurred on March 24 in the 200 block of Glenwood Lane. Acting on a search warrant, investigators uncovered a substantial amount of narcotics, including 2,500 fentanyl pills, 580 pressed Adderall 30 mg pills, 490 pressed Xanax pills, and 15.6 grams of marijuana. The total estimated value of the seized drugs was over $40,000. In addition to the drugs, a handgun and items recently reported as stolen were also recovered from the property. As a result of the operation, 22-year-old Deshawn Maurice Thomas was arrested and charged with drug trafficking.

The following day, March 25, law enforcement executed another search warrant in the 300 block of Fleming Street. This time, the authorities discovered 127 grams of cocaine and a handgun inside the residence. The suspect, 44-year-old Ortis Betney, was arrested and charged with trafficking cocaine and unlawful possession of a firearm, as he was prohibited from owning a weapon due to prior convictions.

Both Thomas and Betney were transported to the Coffee County Jail after their respective arrests. The raids were carried out in collaboration with the Enterprise Police Narcotics Unit, Special Response Team (SRT), and the 12th Judicial Drug Task Force.

Authorities are continuing their efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region, and both arrests are seen as a significant step in addressing the ongoing issue of illegal drug distribution in Enterprise.
