Geneva City School System Appoints New Superintendent

Geneva, Ala. — The Geneva City School Board has selected Jami Seay as the new superintendent of the Geneva City School System, following a months-long search. The board voted unanimously during its meeting on Tuesday night, marking the end of the district’s search for a successor to longtime superintendent Ron Snell, who retired last year.

Seay, who has served as the principal at Mulkey Elementary in Geneva, was chosen over Dr. Brian Thomas, the current assistant superintendent of the Dekalb County School System in northern Alabama. The decision came after the two candidates were given the opportunity to address the board, sharing insights about their backgrounds, experiences, and visions for the future of the school system.

The selection of Seay is seen as a significant moment for the Geneva City School System, as the district transitions into a new chapter under her leadership. The board members expressed confidence in Seay’s ability to guide the district forward, noting her deep ties to the community and extensive experience in educational leadership.

The search for a new superintendent began after Ron Snell’s announcement of his retirement, ending a long tenure at the helm of the district. With Seay’s appointment, the community and school system are now looking ahead to a new era of leadership.

Stay tuned to WDHN for further updates as more details emerge about Seay’s plans and vision for Geneva City Schools.
