Girard Avenue to Close for One Day Due to Sewer Construction in Dothan

DOTHAN, Ala. — Drivers should prepare for delays and detours on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, as Girard Avenue will be closed for most of the day due to ongoing sanitary sewer construction.

The City of Dothan announced that from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., one-way traffic westbound will be enforced at the intersection of Girard Avenue and West Main Street. During this time, lane closures and shifts will be in effect to accommodate the work being performed by the city’s sanitary sewer contractor.

Motorists are advised to proceed with caution and follow the guidance of traffic cones and digital arrow signs that will be in place to direct traffic safely around the construction zone. City officials also remind drivers to be vigilant, as workers will be present on the roadway throughout the day.

The temporary traffic changes are part of the city’s efforts to maintain and improve its sanitary sewer infrastructure. Residents and commuters are encouraged to plan alternate routes if possible and allow extra travel time during the construction period.

For further updates, the City of Dothan advises keeping an eye on official communications and traffic alerts.
