Grass Fire in Geneva County Destroys Vacant Mobile Homes

GENEVA COUNTY, Ala. — A grass fire in eastern Geneva County rapidly spread out of control over the weekend, resulting in the destruction of two vacant mobile homes. The fire broke out Sunday afternoon on County Road 4 in Fadette, after a property owner attempted to burn trash.

According to the property owner, the fire was intended to be controlled but quickly spread beyond expectations. The flames reached two mobile homes on the property, threatening a third before emergency responders were able to contain the blaze. The fire took approximately 30 minutes to extinguish.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the trailers were unoccupied at the time. The homeowner also noted that there was nothing of significant value inside the mobile homes. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the risks associated with burning debris and the importance of closely monitoring open flames.

Authorities are continuing to assess the cause and extent of the fire, but no further damage was reported beyond the two mobile homes.
