Hartford Man Dies in Apparent Suicide During Police Encounter

DOTHAN, Ala. — A man from Hartford is dead after an apparent suicide during an interaction with police on Sunday evening. The Geneva County Coroner, Donny Adkinson, confirmed the incident took place on North Second Avenue, where Hartford Police had been called to investigate a report of a suspicious individual.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers located the man, who, during the encounter, reportedly used a box cutter to cut his own throat. Despite efforts to provide medical aid, the man was transported to Flowers Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
