Houston County Residents Assist Police in Suspect Chase

Houston County, Ala. — A tense chase unfolded Sunday afternoon in Houston County, culminating with the assistance of two local residents who helped law enforcement apprehend a suspect fleeing on foot.

Multiple Houston County Sheriff’s Deputies and Ashford Police officers responded to reports of disorderly conduct involving several individuals in the vicinity of Oak Creek Lane off Bluff Springs Road. Witnesses reported hearing loud yelling from both male and female subjects.

According to witnesses and Houston County residents Nick Francis and Kincaid Knight, one or more suspects fled on foot between a nearby trailer park and the cemetery at Bluff Springs Church. During the pursuit, Francis and Knight located one suspect in the woods and held him at gunpoint until deputies arrived to take the individual into custody.

Francis later stated that deputies expressed their gratitude for the residents’ assistance.
