MIDLAND CITY, Ala. — Authorities are investigating a potential hit-and-run incident after a pedestrian was found dead along a busy stretch of Highway 231 on Monday morning.
The victim has been identified as 53-year-old Troy L. Williams, a resident of Midland City. Williams’ body was discovered in a ditch near Alpha Street by a passing driver who noticed both the victim and a bicycle in the area. The concerned motorist pulled into a nearby gas station to contact law enforcement.
Dale County Coroner John Cawley confirmed the identity of the deceased and stated that Williams’ body has been sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for further examination. While the cause of death has not yet been officially determined, authorities suspect that the incident may have involved a hit-and-run.
Local law enforcement agencies, including the Dale County Sheriff’s Office, Midland City Police, and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), are currently on the scene conducting their investigation.
