Investigation Underway in Midland City After Pedestrian Found Dead on Highway 231

MIDLAND CITY, Ala. — An investigation is underway after the body of a 53-year-old man was discovered along a busy stretch of Highway 231 in Midland City on Monday morning. Authorities have identified the victim as Troy L. Williams, a resident of Midland City.

Williams was found lying in a ditch near Alpha Street, alongside a bicycle. A passing driver noticed the scene and immediately pulled into a nearby gas station to call law enforcement.

Coroner John Cawley confirmed the death and stated that the circumstances suggest it may have been a hit-and-run. “It appears the victim was struck by a vehicle, but we are still working to confirm the exact details,” Cawley said.

The victim’s body has been sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for further examination as part of the ongoing investigation.

Law enforcement agencies, including the Dale County Sheriff’s Office, Midland City Police, and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), are actively working the case. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.

As of now, investigators are piecing together the events leading to Williams’ tragic death, but no arrests have been made. The investigation remains in its early stages, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
