Level Plains Man Arrested on Sexual Assault Charges, Authorities Say He is Undocumented Immigrant

LEVEL PLAINS, Ala. — A 20-year-old man has been arrested on charges of sexual assault after a teen girl reported the incident to authorities, according to the Level Plains Police Department.

The alleged assault was reported on Wednesday after a resource officer at Daleville High School contacted police, stating that the victim, a teen girl, had claimed she was sexually assaulted in Level Plains. Chief John Summers of the Level Plains Police Department confirmed that officers interviewed the victim and her family, leading them to identify the suspect as David Sis-Suarez, a 20-year-old man.

Following the identification, law enforcement initiated an overnight search in Level Plains. Sis-Suarez was apprehended around Highway 84, near the SOS Animal Shelter, where he was taken into custody.

Chief Summers also revealed that Sis-Suarez is an undocumented immigrant from Honduras. The charges against him include one count of “Sex offense-force,” and he could face additional charges, including first-degree rape, pending further investigation.

Jail records show that Sis-Suarez was booked into the Dale County Jail, where he remains in custody. Once his legal proceedings are completed, should he be found guilty, authorities have confirmed that he will be held by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for deportation.

The case is under ongoing investigation as authorities work to gather more details surrounding the incident. The Level Plains Police Department continues to work with other law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety and justice for the victim involved.

This incident has sparked local discussions on the intersection of criminal justice and immigration issues, with concerns raised about the deportation process following legal convictions.

Further updates will be provided as the case develops.
