One Dead in Weekend Shooting in Troy, Suspect Identified

TROY, Ala. – A shooting late Saturday night in Troy has left one person dead, and local authorities are asking for the public’s help in locating the suspect.

The Troy Police Department has identified the victim as 20-year-old Nyreesh Amari Smith. According to police, officers responded to a report of a large crowd and loud noise in the 100 block of Dunn Circle. However, when they arrived at the scene, they were met with the sound of multiple gunshots.

Upon arriving, officers discovered Smith at the scene suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite efforts to administer life-saving measures, Smith was pronounced dead from his injuries shortly after.

The shooting has prompted a homicide investigation, and authorities are now seeking any witnesses who may have seen the incident or have relevant information that could aid in solving the case.

“We are asking anyone with information to come forward. Any detail, no matter how small, could be crucial to this investigation,” said a Troy Police spokesperson.
