Springhill Medical Center Employee Arrested After Bomb Threat

Dothan, Ala. — A Springhill Medical Center employee was arrested early Thursday morning after allegedly calling in a bomb threat to the hospital. The incident, which occurred around 2 a.m., prompted a swift response from the Mobile Police Department.

According to officials, officers were dispatched to the hospital following reports of a bomb threat. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered that the threat had been made from inside the hospital, with the caller instructing hospital staff to evacuate the building.

Investigators quickly determined that the call had been placed by a staff member of the hospital. The individual responsible for the threat was identified as 32-year-old Elizabeth Marie Bass.

Bass, who is employed at Springhill Medical Center, was arrested and charged with second-degree making terroristic threats. She was taken into custody and transported to Mobile Metro Jail.

The incident caused temporary disruption at the hospital, but no injuries were reported. The threat was deemed unsubstantiated, and the hospital resumed normal operations after an investigation.

Making a false bomb threat is a serious offense, and Bass now faces significant legal consequences for her actions. The Mobile Police Department is continuing its investigation into the matter.

This arrest serves as a reminder of the serious impact such threats can have on public safety and the functioning of critical institutions like hospitals.
