Troy Volunteer Arrested on Child Pornography Charges

TROY, Ala. — A Troy man has been arrested on charges related to child pornography after a joint investigation by state agents and the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force.

Samuel Andrew McCall, 32, was taken into custody on January 29 and charged with one count of Possession of Child Pornography with Intent to Disseminate. McCall, a volunteer at a local church youth group, was arrested following the execution of a search warrant on his electronic devices. Authorities have confirmed that additional charges are expected as investigators continue to analyze the seized material.

While investigators do not believe that there are any local victims connected to the child pornography discovered during the investigation, Pike County District Attorney James Tarbox is urging anyone who may have concerns to come forward. “The District Attorney’s Office recommends anyone who believes they or their child may have been victimized by McCall to contact their local law enforcement agency,” Tarbox said in a statement. McCall was granted release from the Pike County Jail on January 3 after posting a $25,000 bond.

Law enforcement officials continue to scrutinize the evidence and have indicated that more charges may be filed as the investigation progresses. Local authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant and report any information related to the case, as the investigation is ongoing.
